Dime To A Dollar
by Heather Bishop
I saw him standing in the pale moonlight
I heard him say I’m going crazy tonight
Oh yeah- I'm going crazy tonight.
Somebody told me Better watch that one-
Cos he’s a bad mother son of a gun
Oh yeah- a mother son of a gun.
Betcha dime to a dollar-
that man knows how to run.
He said Now baby, do you know how to dance?
I said I might, he said You may have a chance
Oh yeah- You may have a chance
I said Now baby, whatcha drinking there?
He said Don’t matter, girl I like your stare
Oh yeah- I really like your stare
Betcha dime to a dollar-
we gonna go somewhere.
I don’t really need to know your name
Meet me on the dance floor
We gonna put it to shame, oh yeah
I saw him standing in the pale moonlight
I heard him say I’m going crazy tonight
Oh yeah, I'm going crazy tonight
Somebody told me Better watch that one-
Cos he’s a bad mother son of a gun
Oh yeah- a mother son of a gun.
Betcha dime to a dollar-
that man knows how to run.
Betcha dime to a dollar-
that man knows how to run.
Betcha dime to a dollar-
that man knows how to run.

Cadillac Summer
by Heather Bishop
It was summer, 1965
Daddy told me was ready to drive
In the summer,
Cadillac Summer
Baby blue with a big chrome grill
She was a classy little sassy deville
In the summer,
Cadillac Summer
Drop the top
And turn up the rock
Summer, summer
It was summer, 1965
You know, Baby- I was ready to drive
In the summer,
Cadillac Summer
Whitewall tires and leather seats
A classic car? Well it can’t be beat
In the summer
Cadillac Summer
Hit the highway,
And come on my way
Summer, Summer
It was summer, 1965
You know everybody
Loves to drive
In the Summer,
Cadillac Summer
Drop the top
And turn up the rock
Summer, Summer
Hit the highway
And Come on my way
Summer, summer

Westbound Train
by Heather Bishop
I don’t want to shine for you
unless you’re real, unless you’re true
Don’t want to hear you say my name
If you’re just another clever westbound train
I’ve worked the carnivals til midnight
I’ve known a gypsy or two
Been on my knees in the garden of redemption
Lie to me, I’ll lie to you
I don’t want to shine for you
If you think you’ve got something more important to do
Don’t want to hear you say my name
If you’re gonna trade your good intentions for fame
I’ve been from here to Madagascar
I've been to Paris, I've been to Rome
I've seen the seven wonders of the world
and I can tell you, where you lay your head?
That ain’t a home.
Take my hand and let’s go dancing
Unleash the heart, the soul, the bones
This precious world is for romancing-
No need to walk this road alone
I don’t want to shine for you
unless you’re real, unless you’re true
Don’t want to hear you say my name
If you’re just another clever westbound train
I’ve worked the carnivals til midnight
I’ve known a gypsy or two
Been on my knees in the garden of redemption
Lie to me, I’ll lie to you
Don’t you lie to me, and I won’t lie to you

When It Comes To Me

When It Comes To Me
by Heather Bishop
When it comes to me
You’ve got some stories you tell.
They always make you look good
And make me look like hell
When it comes to me
You leave the details out
If they don’t serve your purpose
If they don’t work things out
I’m not the sandwich you ordered
I’m just the one that showed up
I’m not the drink that you wanted
I’m just the one in your cup
When it comes to me
I’m just a face in the crowd
Who got a little too close
Who got a little too loud
When it comes to me
I’m like a coat in the hall
You know you'll need me in winter
But this season is fall
I’m not the sandwich you ordered
I’m just the one that showed up
I’m not the drink that you wanted
I’m just the one in your cup

All She Ever Wanted

All She Ever Wanted
by Heather Bishop
All she ever wanted was a soft place to land
Pictures on the mantle, the touch of your hand
And all she ever dreamed of were the nightmares undone
White sandy beaches that nobody reaches, the warmth of the sun
‘
And all she ever wanted was the soft light of truth
Feet on the ground with the stars rolling round
And the beauty of her youth
And all she ever dreamed of was the wind in her face
Black ribbon highways and luscious green byways-
A love no man can replace
But this world ain’t about what she wanted
And it don’t really care where she's been
She can take it and break it and watch it burn down
And build it on up once again
And all she ever wanted was brilliance to shine
And she ain’t no whore just the girl from next door
Heart a remnant of a lover’s landmine
And all she ever dreamed of was the day she could say
That she paid all her dues packed away all her blues
Grabbed a coat and set off on her way
But this world ain’t about what she wanted
And it don’t really care where she's been
She can take it and break it and watch it burn down
And build it on up once again
No this world ain’t about what she wanted
And it don’t really care where she's been
She can take it and break it and watch it burn down
And build it on up once again

Northbound
by Heather Bishop
Sober you, quiet me
I’m quarter to two, you’re half past three
You’re reaching out through fear and pain
As I’m leaving on a northbound train
Early morning, time to rise
Hot black coffee, sleepy eyes
You say you remember how to play the game
As I am leaving on a northbound train
I’ve already paid the price
Loved you once, can’t afford to love you twice
You left me standing in the cold and the rain
I am leaving on a northbound train
Sober you, quiet me
I’m quarter to two, you’re half past three
You’re reaching out through wind and rain
As I’m leaving on a northbound train
I am leaving on a northbound train
I am leaving on a northbound train

Ordinary Heartache
by Heather Bishop
Ordinary people, ordinary times
Ordinary rhythm, ordinary rhymes
Ordinary hunger, ordinary pains
Ordinary thunder, ordinary rains
Ordinary heartache down the drain
Ordinary secrets, ordinary lies
Ordinary porches, railroad ties
Ordinary gardens, ordinary grains
Ordinary thunder, ordinary rains
Ordinary heartache down the drain
Ordinary people, ordinary times
Ordinary rhythm, ordinary rhymes
Ordinary hunger, ordinary pains
Ordinary thunder, ordinary rains
Ordinary heartache down the drain

Flood
by Heather Bishop
Water through the front door-
Water through the back.
Water pouring from the ceiling-
Water pouring down the track.
She called out to her baby-
Said “I sure could use some help.”
He said “I’m too important now, Girl-
And you can help yourself.
You can help yourself.”
She sat there crying softly
Mud and water all around.
She thought of ducking under-
She thought that she might drown.
Then a light appeared before her-
She couldn’t quite explain.
And a voice came out of nowhere-
“You are stronger than the rain.
Stronger than the rain.”
She looked down into the water
As it started flowing towards the door.
She saw a flower coming towards her-
She wasn’t scared anymore.
And somewhere in the darkness
She heard a voice, soft and low,
Say “I’ll always be here for you.
No one has to know.
No one has to know.”
Flow
Flow
Flow

Stars At Night (The Gravediggers Song)
Stars at night, lovers delight
Taken for granted the chances of finding
true love- are gone
You never wanted
a heart lost and haunted-
a gravedigger’s song
Wind and rain, late night train
Hearts on the tracks, never coming back
To the start of life
Always remember
the fading December
You made her your wife
Stars at night, lover’s delight
Taken for granted the chances of finding
true love- are gone
Stars at night
Stars at night
Stars at night

Black Cat Mojo
by Heather Bishop
If you have a voodoo woman
Don’t you do her wrong.
If you have a voodoo woman
Don’t you do her wrong.
Don’t go running ‘round town
Singing that cheating song.
She got a black cat mojo
And a one eyed dog.
She got a black cat mojo
And a one eyed dog.
You gonna find her after midnight
Barefoot in the fog.
If she love you
You better love her back.
If she love you
You better love her back.
You gonna find her after midnight in the railyard
With the man in black.
If you have a voodoo woman
Don’t you do her wrong.
If you have a voodoo woman
Don’t you do her wrong.
Don’t go running ‘round town...

Chicago
by Heather Bishop
Falling slowly from you
Tail lights on black top, blue
A stoic dying for the truth
The one thing you could never do
So won’t you meet me on the back porch
And let me show you the light
Won’t you meet me on the back porch
And show you how to love a girl-
How to love a woman right
Morning dew on the lawn
Your secrets open all along
The weakest one finds herself strong
And only the forgotten moves on
So won’t you meet me on the back porch
And let me show you the light
Won’t you meet me on the back porch
And show you how to love a girl-
How to love a woman right
Silent space in between
Your actions and words you never mean
Winter fades in between
Lovelorn requiem for a dream
So won’t you meet me on the back porch
And let me show you the light
Yeah won’t you meet me on the back porch
Show you how to love a girl-
How to love a woman right
Won’t you meet me on the back porch
And let me show you the light
Won’t you meet me on the back porch
Show you how to love a girl-
How to love a woman right.

Down To The River
by Heather Bishop
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
Fifteen years, I've been working the rails
Five dollars a day, I've been driving nails
Up country and down, I've been working the land
Lots of time, no time to understand
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
Water cuts through stone, words cut through man
Dollar bills ain’t soul, gold ain't the promised land
Devil can get your tongue, whiskey can take you there
Redemption on the wind, angels are everywhere
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down, down, down, down, down
Lay my body down by the riverside
Pile the kindling high by the firelight
Up country and down, I've been working the land
Lots of time to think, maybe I'll understand
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
I’m going down (to the river)
We’re all going down, down, down, down, down
To the river...
